Our Gwinnett County (Georgia) neighborhood is unique. We can count among our residents several families who not only choose to live in the same neighborhood, but also share a home. The reasons vary, but our neighborhood is very special. Some folks even move just across the street when their families outgrow the starter home they bought before babies.
My own family is no different. When the opportunity to buy a home in the neighborhood where I grew up presented itself, well, we did it. When life changed, we sold the house and moved up the street “temporarily” to live with my parents. Now, my teenage boys like to modify the famous cartoon cat Garfield’s line from his movie: “Never leave the cul-de-sac” to “Never leave the neighborhood”. So here we are, since 2007 working on the ins and outs of Multigenerational living. The house is lively and often filled with friends…just like it was when my brother and I grew up here.
There are gardens in front and in back-the rhyme and reason of which is best described as “throwing caution to the wind.” Seeds are planted and growth invariably happens. It is how our house rolls.
Lessons are learned and this is where we share them.
