Accidents and Wrecks-Change…In An Instant

This morning began with a great breakfast with a dear friend. I ran into one of my favorite friends on the way out. Everyone calls him “Pop”. There had been great news all around of new life on the way and news of new life just born the day before. Great news generally surrounds “Pop” and he is one of the most positive people I know despite the tragedies he has witnessed over the years. He is a man of amazing faith. I think I was supposed to see him today. Helped with the rest of the day…which was no accident.

When I got back to the house, I heard my mom talking to my aunt about something that had clearly made her sad. It was a tragic loss of my aunt’s great grandchild in a train crossing car wreck. A dark, rural and unmarked train crossing. Mother, friend, two children all killed in an instant. The baby was life-flighted to Indy and is expected to be fine. Dad will raise the baby on his own now. In an instant.

I remember “Pop” telling me recently that every moment is precious and life is to be lived to the fullest with faith. His words were timely today and I was grateful to have “run into” him today. There are no accidents, but  a wreck can change things in an instant.
